On September 17, 2009, Mitrice Richardson was released from the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriffs
Station between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. without her wallet, identification, cell phone or
transportation, in a remote area of Malibu far from home. She has not been seen since.
On July 27, 201O, a Superior court lawsuit will be filed by Michael Richardson (father of Mitrice
Richardson) alleging that Los Angeles County and individual Sheriffs deputies were negligent in
releasing Mitrice Richardson after she had exhibited signs of mental health problems, without
first summoning medical professionals to conduct a mental health evaluation and notifying Ms.
Richardson's family that she was being released.
Since her disappearance, Michael Richardson has been tirelessly searching for his daughter,
Mitrice, “Since my daughter’s disappearance I have exhausted my savings and reduced my method of living severely,” confesses father Michael Richardson to no avail. Through this lawsuit, he hopes to gain information that will assist his ability to find Mitrice. He also seeks to prevent the Sheriff Department's negligent practices from harming other families.
Mr. Richardson will be available to answer questions. For more information on Mitrice Richardson’s disappearance, please visit www.bringmitricehome.org.
